Naltrexone dispensing by pharmacies is now reported to the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS). The collection of naltrexone is intended to assist prescribers and pharmacists in identifying individuals who may be receiving treatment for substance use disorder.
This information can be useful for healthcare providers who are considering the use of controlled substances to treat patients. Prescribers and pharmacists should be aware that naltrexone will be displayed with all other prescription drug information in OARRS. At this time, naltrexone dispensing information will not impact a patient’s NARX Score or Overdose Risk Scores.
