In accordance with Ohio Revised Code 149.01 and Ohio Administrative Code 4731-30, the State Medical Board of Ohio (SMBO) has released its Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Annual Report.
The SMBO continues to see record growth in active licenses. It ended this fiscal year with over 103,000 licensees, an almost 10% growth since 2020. More than 5% of SMBO licensees came through the newly created pathways of reciprocity or the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC). Board staff remain involved in the operation of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact and serve in leadership roles in the development of the newly enacted Physician Assistant Compact.
The SMBO also continues to engage with the legislature to ensure that Ohio licenses qualified, safe healthcare workers with the least restrictive regulatory barriers possible.
