Ohio Medicaid will be surveying physicians and other health care professionals about their level of satisfaction with Ohio’s Medicaid managed care plans early in 2018. While Medicaid regularly surveys patients about their experiences, they have not surveyed physicians. Physician organizations, including the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, suggested to Medicaid that a survey relative to physician experiences would be valuable.
Medicaid is working with the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG), the external quality review organization for Ohio, to conduct this survey with primary care physicians and other primary care health professionals who are contracted with one or more of Ohio’s Medicaid plans.
The survey process will begin Monday, January 22. If you are selected to participate, the OAFP encourages you to complete the survey. The purpose of the survey is to learn about Medicaid providers’ opinions, attitudes, and level of satisfaction with their participation in Ohio’s Medicaid program. Results of the survey will be used by the Ohio Department of Medicaid and health plans to improve and streamline processes for physicians and other health care professionals and identify areas where more work is needed to increase physician satisfaction with the Medicaid program. Your anonymity during the process is assured. All responses and comments made will be aggregated for reporting purposes, and no individual will be identified in this process.
All surveyed physicians will receive an initial mailed, hard-copy survey, which can be completed either on paper or electronically via the web link that is provided in the initial mailing. The paper survey can be returned using the pre-addressed, postage-paid return envelope included with the mailing. A reminder postcard will be sent to non-responders following the first mailing. Non-responders to the first survey mailing will receive a second mailed, hard copy of the survey, which may be completed either on paper or electronically via the provided web link. A second reminder postcard will be sent to non-responders following the second mailing. For those with available email addresses, the survey process will also include two email reminders with a link for electronic participation. Email reminders will be sent to non-responders following the first survey mailing and second survey mailing.
The survey process will close on Monday, March 19, and aggregated survey results will be provided to the Ohio Department of Medicaid no later than Saturday, June 30.
