On March 16, the Ohio Supreme Court rejected state legislative district maps for the third time throwing the May 3 primary election into limbo.
Barring any federal court-ordered action, officials must now decide between two complicated and potentially costly options: postponing the May 3 primary election or holding two separate primaries (one for statewide and local candidates and another for legislative and congressional candidates) which would give officials more time to finalize maps.
