The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded IPRO a five-year contract to serve as the Medicare Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) in Ohio. IPRO replaces the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) that previously served as QIN-QIO for Ohio.
For the next five years, IPRO quality improvement (QI) teams will collaborate with participating physicians and other health care professionals on implementing and strengthening innovative, evidence based, and data-driven methodologies to support improvements in focus areas including:
- Tackling the opioid epidemic
- Improving access to behavioral health services
- Reducing all-cause harm with a focus on adverse drug events and healthcare acquired infections
- Advancing nursing home quality
- Improving chronic disease prevention and management
- Strengthening transitions of care and reducing hospital readmissions.
IPRO as a contractor for CMS will support stakeholders through:
- Educational resources and tools: to help you implement QI processes.
- Health information technology support: access clinical decision support tools; innovations in health information technology (HIT) to reduce opioid-related harm, improve opioid prescribing, and pain management; and track and report adverse events.
- Data analysis and reporting: enhance identification, tracking, and reporting opportunities for improvement; receive timely data on your quality measure performance.
- Peer to peer collaboration: learn about best practices from your peers and discover unique solutions you can implement in your organization.
- Person and family engagement: gain insight on how best to involve patients, residents, and their family members and care partners in their care.
- Online learning: join virtual collaboratives and take advantage of online, self-paced educational programs.
