On April 18, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians held its second session of the 2018 Wellness Wednesdays series that focused participants on how to approach a colleague you suspect is burned out and in professional distress.
For those who were not able to join the session, the program was video recorded and has been added to OAFP’s Wellness Wednesdays archive. An added emphasis to this particular session is a link to the Ohio Physicians Health Program (OPHP), an organization dedicated to providing confidential services to healthcare professionals in effort to improve their health and well-being.
The Academy’s Wellness Wednesdays program is a structured, bi-monthly webinar series that focuses on enhancing professional and personal wellness. Creation of the series is the result of the OAFP’s Joy of Medicine Workgroup – a group of volunteer physicians tasked to champion the strategic objective of bringing back the joy to family medicine.
The series is facilitated by a licensed professional clinical counselor from the OPHP, is offered for free, and is scheduled on a Wednesday over the typical lunch hour, 12:15-1 p.m.
If you have not registered already, there is still space available for the next Wellness Wednesdays session set for Wednesday, June 20, titled, “Exploring Tools and Resources for Overcoming Burnout.” This session will help you navigate and select the perfect wellness resources to keep you happy and healthy.
Other resources for improving physician wellness and beating burnout are available through the OAFP website.
