Handmade Olivewood Pen up for Auction

The OAFP Foundation is pleased to auction-off this unique, one-of-a-kind, handmade ballpoint pen. The pen is made with domestic hardwood, authentic Bethlehem Olivewood. The mechanisms for the pen were purchased and assembled after the body of the pen was completed.

This Bethlehem Olivewood pen is from Olivewood trees from the ancient city of Bethlehem, Israel. Obtained from a Bethlehem company that specializes in harvesting this wood, the tree can live 1,500 years or more. Its root system is so robust that it can regenerate the tree even if the aboveground structure is destroyed. This dramatic and beautiful wood is milled from pruned limbs of trees that no longer produce fruit.

The pen was handmade and donated by Ohio Academy of Family Physician member Stephen Justice, MD, from Fletcher, OH, and is valued at $100.

Bidding closes on Friday, March 30, at Noon.

To place a bid on the pen, visit the online auction and place your bid in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

The minimum beginning bid is $50 and the minimum raise is $10.

All proceeds directly benefit Foundation family medicine pipeline programs that seek to identify and cultivate future family physicians to ensure a sufficient family medicine workforce for Ohio.

If you have any questions, please contact Coordinator of Events and Foundation Programs Katie Siegrist or call 800.742.7327.
