The OAFP Foundation has been busy at work in these first two months of 2016.
2016 Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program
Recruitment for the 2016 Preceptorship Program is well underway. Each medical school in Ohio has been approved for 10 student participants in its summer preceptorship program – that’s a total of 70 students this year!
In order to cover the additional students this year, the Foundation has received a grant from the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers (OACHC) as part of its Ohio Primary Care Workforce Initiative. The OACHC will provide funding to the Foundation to cover 35 student experiences in community health centers and federally qualified health centers.
We need YOU! Adding an additional 35 students this year requires additional practice sites. If you are interested in being a preceptor this summer, please contact Kaitlin Smith. Rotations are for four weeks during the summer months. Check out this video to hear from a past preceptor on what it’s like to work with students and why you should consider being a summer preceptor!
You can also support this program by making a tax-deductible donation. To donate, visit the Foundation’s online donation portal.
Either with time or a donation, you can help the future of family medicine!
First Online Auction in 2016
The Foundation will again host an online auction each quarter in 2016. The first item up for bid is a colorful x-ray photo created by Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Past President Tenny Williams, MD. Bidding will open Tuesday, March 1, and will close on Thursday, March 31, at 5 p.m.
