The OAFP Foundation (Foundation) is proud to announce Roma Amin, MD, FAAFP, as the recipients of the 2025 Family Physician Mentorship Award – an honor recognizing her extraordinary dedication to guiding and inspiring the next generation of physicians.
From the moment colleagues and students meet Dr. Amin, her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to others’ growth leave a lasting impression. As one nominator shared, “She is a mentor that sees all learners and colleagues as equals. This is a unique and remarkable skill that instills trust and confidence in those around her.”
Dr. Amin’s mentorship reaches far beyond the walls of the clinic, touching lives in her community, within organized medicine, and throughout her residency program. She creates spaces where learning, advocacy, and open dialogue thrive—empowering others to grow as both clinicians and leaders. As one colleague shared, “I started to learn more from Roma than I could ever teach her…this reversal of learner and teacher continues to go back and forth today.”
Her mentees consistently describe her both as a role model and a champion for their success. Former Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program student Mackenzie Attwell recalls, “Dr. Amin truly fostered my love for family medicine and was the best role model in both patient care and preceptorship. She challenged us to think outside our boundaries and made us feel like part of the team.”
In her role at Grant Family Medicine, Dr. Amin is known for creating a welcoming environment where learners thrive. As a longtime colleague noted, “There is no other office where these learners spend more time, both because she welcomes them and because they want to be around her…She frequently dives deeper, giving them extra time and nurturing to grow into the best physicians they can be.”
The impact of her mentorship is not only measured in clinical skill, but in the humanity she brings to medicine. “It is the humanity that she brings to education and the practice of medicine that makes her an exemplary mentor,” wrote another supporter.
Whether guiding a medical student through their first patient encounter or leading community health initiatives, Dr. Amin’s influence is felt widely – and will continue to ripple through the lives and careers of those she has touched.
The Foundation congratulates Dr. Amin for her outstanding service, her compassionate leadership, and the countless ways she has shaped the future of family medicine.
Join us to recognize Dr. Amin at the Foundation’s Legacy Reception on Friday, August 15, at Mezzo in Dublin, OH.
Congratulations, Dr. Amin!
