The Ohio HOSA Future Health Professionals (HOSA) State Leadership Conference (SLC) is happening Tuesday-Thursday, April 8-10, in Toledo, OH. At the SLC, high school students will participate in competitions to present on varied healthcare professions. Students have researched a profession of interest, interviewed professionals in the role, created a presentation on their findings, and will give their presentations to judges at the event.
HOSA has requested volunteers to judge the event competitions for a variety of health and science categories, including family medicine. Family physicians in current practice or retirees, residents, and medical students are all welcome to volunteer to judge competitions. While only a few volunteers will be selected for the family medicine event, there are many additional events that are under the health science and profession categories and will need volunteers.
This is a great opportunity to connect with high school students who may be interested in a primary care career; a positive touchpoint early-on with family medicine is so important for encouraging future family physicians and growing Ohio’s workforce.
No prior experience is necessary, HOSA will provide selected event judges with instructions. Judging will take place in two sessions on Wednesday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Register to be a SLC Competition Judge today!
