The AAFP Foundation Family Medicine Leads (FML) program provides 250 scholarships to assist students and residents with out-of-pocket expenses related to attending the American Academy of Family Physicians National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students (National Conference) and other leadership development programs.
The 2018 National Conference will take place Thursday-Saturday, August 2–4, in Kansas City, MO. Past attendees consistently rate this event as an invaluable opportunity because of the practical sessions, networking, and chance to learn more about family medicine.
- FML Emerging Leader Institute is a year-long leadership development program that starts immediately after National Conference. This highly competitive program accepts 30 scholars who each receive a $1,000 award to help with travel and lodging expenses. The application deadline is Thursday, March 1.
- FML Scholarships provide 220 awards valued at $600 each. This financial assistance helps offset expenses such as registration, travel, lodging, and meals. The application deadline is Tuesday, May 1. Note: The categories have changed. Please review carefully.
Attendees are encouraged to apply for both opportunities; however, an FML scholarship application will be considered only if an applicant is not selected for the FML Emerging Leader Institute.
