The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians 2017 award winners—Family Physician of the Year Carlos Menendez, MD, of Greenville, OH, and Family Medicine Educator of the Year John (Jack) O’Handley, MD, of Hilliard, OH—received Ohio House resolutions on October 24 during the Ohio House session.
Carlos Menendez, MD—2017 Ohio Family Physician of the Year
State Representatives Stephen Huffman, MD (an OAFP member) and Keith Faber presented to Dr. Menendez his resolution honoring him for his Family Physician of the Year Award.
“It was an honor to recognize Dr. Menendez on the House floor for his achievements,” Dr. Huffman said. “He has dedicated his entire career to serving his community and practicing family medicine with compassion and excellence.”

John (Jack) O’Handley, MD—2017 Ohio Family Medicine Educator of the Year
State Representative Jim Hughes presented to Dr. O’Handley his resolution honoring him for his Family Medicine Educator of the Year Award.
“It was an honor to welcome Dr. O’Handley to the Ohio House of Representatives to be recognized for this outstanding accomplishment,” said Rep. Hughes. “His contributions to family medicine education are an invaluable asset to our community.”
