Sarah Sams, MD, has been appointed to a 4-year term on the American Academy of Family Physicians Commission on Finance and Insurance. The appointment was approved by the AAFP Board of Directors at their recent meeting held December 6-8. Dr. Sams’ term of service begins Saturday, December 15, 2018, and ends Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Dr. Sams currently serves as associate director and full-time faculty member at the Grant Family Medicine Residency in Columbus, OH, where she does full spectrum family medicine including obstetrics, minor office-base procedures (including vasectomies), and is the faculty member in charge of the residency’s health systems management (practice management) curriculum.
Dr. Sams is an Ohio Academy of Family Physicians past president, past member and chair of the AAFP Commission on Governmental Advocacy, and is currently an OAFP alternate delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. In 2012, Dr. Sams was awarded the OAFP Torchlight Leadership Award and she was named OAFP Foundation Philanthropist of the Year in 2013.
