The American Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors has named Mike Sevilla, MD, as chair of the AAFP Commission on Membership and Member Services. Dr. Sevilla’s appointment was announced at the close of the AAFP Congress of Delegates in San Antonio on September 13.
In addition to having served on the AAFP Commission on Membership and Member Services for the past four years, Dr. Sevilla has a long record of service to the AAFP. He served as National Conference of Special Constituencies chair in 2006 and as conference convener in 2007 and was selected as new physician delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates in 2004. Other leadership roles include service as chair of the 2006 Planning Committee for the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students; as Resident Delegate to the AAFP Congress in 2001; as a member of the AAFP Commission on Education (2005-06); as a member of the AAFP Commission on Resident and Student Issues (2003-05); and as a member of the AAFP Committee on Resident and Student Affairs (2000-01).
Dr. Sevilla currently serves as Ohio Academy of Family Physicians speaker and is a member of the OAFP Board of Directors and Executive Committee. In full-time private practice in Salem, OH, Dr. Sevilla earned his medical degree at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, OH, and completed his residency at the Barberton Family Medicine Residency in Barberton, OH.
