On April 26, Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Past President Mike Sevilla, MD, FAAFP was honored with the Northeast Ohio Medical University’s (NEOMED) Rural Medical Education (RMED) Rural Service Excellence Award.
This award recognizes a community/faculty member who is dedicated to the RMED Pathway’s mission to foster ingenuity and life-long learning in RMED students, and support their goals to become excellent physicians in rural areas.
Dr. Sevilla was recognized at the Department of Family and Community Medicine Annual Awards on April 26 along with other esteemed faculty and NEOMED’s student awards.
Since the beginning of RMED in 2015 (and long before) Dr. Sevilla has precepted NEOMED students in his office. NEOMED students LOVE working with Dr. Sevilla and learn a great deal about his passion for family medicine and rural populations.
Since RMED began in 2015, Dr. Sevilla had an impact on eight RMED and traditional students by serving as their Primary Ambulatory Care Experience (PACE) preceptor and over the past 10 years he has precepted 6 students for the OAFP Foundation’s Leroy A Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program.
