Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Medical Director Mary DiOrio, MD, will be leaving her position effective Friday, December 30, and will be accepting a position in the private sector.
Prior to becoming the medical director in 2014, Dr. DiOrio was the interim chief of ODH’s Division of Prevention and Health Promotion. For the past 16 years she has used her knowledge as a public health physician to support infectious disease prevention and control programs at the agency. She has also served as chief liaison to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and was named The Ohio State University’s 2015 Public Health Champion in the Community Leader category.
The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians has had an excellent working relationship with Dr. DiOrio. We thank her for her dedicated service to public health in Ohio and wish her well in her new endeavor.
