Sandy Kimmel, MD, represented the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians at the Ohio Department of Medicaid Ohio Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) program for Kids meeting on April 26. The meeting was held at the Ohio Department of Medicaid in Columbus, OH. The meeting objective was to provide input to the DeWine administration relative to design of a pediatric component to the Ohio CPC program.
Governor DeWine wants to invest in prevention programs for children with special attention to behavioral health and social determinants of health. The DeWine administration has proposed Medicaid funding in the state budget bill for this program to commence in 2020 with the intent of having 226 practices cover an estimated 680,000 children under the program.
Meetings will continue as this program is further developed. Dr. Kimmel and Jeff Harwood, MD, are representing the OAFP at those meetings.
