On November 10, Congress passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill (H.R. 3684), which is now headed to President Biden’s desk.
The American Academy of Family Physicians welcomes the historic passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which includes several investments that will strengthen our nation’s health care system and address underlying social determinants of health that contribute to health inequities. Specifically, the bill makes investments in expanding broadband access, improving access to safe drinking water, addressing the health impacts of climate change, and funding to modernize mass transit and improve transportation safety programs. Together these federal investments will strengthen U.S. infrastructure, make our communities safer, and help address the root causes of health inequities.
