State Senator Shannon Jones (R-Beavercreek, OH) has announced her intentions to introduce an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) independent practice bill for the consideration of the Ohio Senate. She is currently soliciting bill sponsors.
This bill would be in addition to legislation (House Bill 216) already introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives by Representative Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville, OH) that seeks to grant APRN independent practice in Ohio. House Bill 216 is currently being heard by the House Health and Aging Committee.
The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians joined with other physician organizations in asking that senators refrain from agreeing to co-sponsor Sen. Jones’ bill until they have had the opportunity to discuss our concerns with them.
