The State Medical Board of Ohio (SMBO) has filed chronic and subacute pain prescribing rules with the Common Sense Initiative (CSI) Office. The deadline for providing comments on the proposed rules is Thursday, June 28. The rules and the Business Impact Analysis for the rules filed with the CSI Office can be found on the SMBO’s website.
The rules in Chapter 4731-21, Ohio Administrative Code, “Drug Treatment of Chronic Pain,” are proposed to be rescinded.

Two rules in Chapter 4731-11, Ohio Administrative Code, “Controlled Substances,” are proposed to be amended and a new rule adopted to regulate prescribing for subacute and chronic pain.
