Cody Klinker, a third-year medical student at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, has been named Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) Network Regional Coordinator by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Mr. Klinker will serve as one of five coordinators in the nation for the 2021 year.
Each year, the AAFP selects five regional coordinators to identify and maintain communication with the many FMIGs across the country. They provide information and resources available through the AAFP to medical students interested in the family medicine specialty, and gather information from participating medical schools in their respective regions. Regional coordinators will also assist in developing and executing FMIG network activities at the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students. Throughout the year, they will use their passion for family medicine to inspire their peers to join this incredible specialty!
Mr. Klinker shares, “I am incredibly honored to be selected for this position. As a regional coordinator, I hope to inspire and share my love and passion for family medicine with the many medical students in my region. I will work hard to keep open communication between our incredible FMIGs, making them aware of what the AAFP and the FMIG Network has to offer. I hope to strengthen and grow existing FMIGs by ensuring that members have all the resources and tools they need to get their communities excited about family medicine. I am grateful for the strong educational foundation and family medicine exposure I am receiving at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences and through the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, and I look forward to using my experiences to positively impact the people in my region.”
Congratulations, Cody!
Cody deserves all the recognition that comes his way. It has been such a privilege to watch him use the talents he’s been given as he prepares to be what we know will be an excellent doctor. Congratulations!
