The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy (SOBP) has received questions on mandatory e-prescribing in Ohio and on January 14, issued the following statement:
Under current Ohio law, there is no requirement for mandatory e-prescribing.
Beginning in Friday, January 1, 2021, all Medicare Part D plans will require the use of e-prescribing for controlled substances prescriptions. The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (HR 6) requires the use of e-prescribing for controlled substances (EPCS) for schedule II-V controlled substances covered under a Medicare Part D prescription drug, or a Medicare advantage prescription drug plan starting January 2021.
