On January 14, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) hosted a Lunch & Learn session for medical students to hear about family medicine career pathways and student member benefits from the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
OAFP members Amanda Goodale, DO; Shraddha Srivastava, DO; and Anthony Wetherington, MD; joined the event to share their educational and career paths in family medicine. Dr. Goodale focused on sports medicine, Dr. Srivastava focused on women’s health, and Dr. Wetherington focused on rural and hospital medicine.

Dr. Goodale is faculty at the TriHealth Family Medicine Residency Program and associate program director for the TriHealth Sports Medicine Fellowship. She attended medical school at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, continued her training at the TriHealth Family Medicine Residency Program where she was chief resident, and completed a sports medicine fellowship at TriHealth. She enjoys her roles providing medical guidance for a number of schools and athletic organizations in the Cincinnati, OH, area and working as special event staff to provide care for athletic events.
Dr. Srivastava provides outpatient care to patients of all ages at a practice in Middletown, OH. She attended medical school at the A.T. Still University and continued her training at the Summa Health Family Medicine Residency Program at the Akron, OH, campus. She has special interests in procedures, global and underserved medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, and teaching.
Dr. Wetherington is chief of staff at Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro, OH. He attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and continued his training at the Clinton Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. He enjoys the breadth of practice opportunities that rural medicine provides, fulfilling needs of the community, and building relationships with patients.
The OAFP Foundation would like to thank Drs. Goodale, Srivastava, and Wetherington for volunteering their time to connect with medical students pursuing careers in family medicine!
OAFP Foundation Lunch & Learn Program
The Foundation (Foundation) provides up to $100 each year to medical school FMIGs and family medicine clubs to host events for medical students to learn about student member benefits from the OAFP and the AAFP and hear a presentation on a topic of your school’s interest presented by an Ohio family physician. These events promote the family medicine specialty and show the breadth of practice, interests, and opportunities available to family physicians in Ohio.
To learn more about this opportunity for your school’s FMIG, SAACOFP, or family medicine club, contact Workforce Development Manager Caitlin Laudeman.
