Executive Vice President Ann Spicer represented the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians at a meeting of the Chronic Care Policy Alliance held August 21 in Columbus, OH. The meeting was to acquaint Ohio patient advocacy organizations about My Patient Rights, an online resource helping patients access the health care they need and deserve.
Launched by the California Chronic Care Coalition in 2015, My Patient Rights is available to help patients in 17 states, including Ohio, who have experienced denials, delays, high out-of-pocket costs, out-of-network charges and other barriers to quality, affordable health care from their health plans. The site is designed to make it easier for patients to contact their health plan, reach the appropriate state agency to obtain information quickly, file a complaint if necessary, and get the answer they need. My Patient Rights is expected to be available in all 50 states by the end of 2019.
Recommend that your patients visit www.mypatientrights.org to access links to the complaint forms of Ohio’s top health plans and the Ohio Department of Insurance.
