The Foundation’s national award-winning Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program is turning 35—and we’re marking this milestone with a bold goal: raise $35,000 by the end of 2025 to support the next generation of family physicians.
Over the past three and a half decades, this beloved program has connected more than 1,600 medical students with family physician mentors, offering a firsthand look at the power and purpose of family medicine.
Watch how this program changes lives:
As 2019 participant Joseph
, MD, shared, “This program puts the power of family medicine into action; uniting established and budding physicians for the sake of patients everywhere.”
Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Laseter added, “This program was one of a couple of things that cemented my desire to pursue family medicine. I wanted to be embedded in the community and know my patients like my preceptor did. He was not feigning trust and partnership by virtue of being affiliated with a large health system but had earned that trust and was a fellow community member – I found this astounding and something to aspire towards.”
Now, we’re calling on the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians’ community to help ensure this legacy continues for decades to come.
Our goal is to raise $35,000 by December 31. As of October 24, 2025, we’ve raised $17,620 since the challenge began.
Every contribution helps fund student stipends and expand access to mentorship. Whether you’re a former preceptor, a past participant, or a champion of family medicine, your gift has a lasting impact.
