National Primary Care Week (NPCW) is an annual event to highlight the importance of primary care and bring health care professionals together to discuss and learn about improving access and quality for all. NPCW’s goal is to engage physicians-in-training, students across the health care spectrum, and the general population on the indispensable role of primary care in our health care system.
Family medicine interest groups (FMIGs) on medical school campuses across the state are hosting events, webinars, and gatherings this week to celebrate primary care and the career options it has to offer.
The theme for this year’s NPCW is “Improving Access and Quality for All.” In addition to events sponsored by the FMIGs, special programming and opportunities for medical students and other health trainees to learn about, experience, and spread awareness of primary care’s pivotal role in the U.S. health care system are planned and resourced by the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). For a full list of webinars, visit the AMSA website.
