The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reverted to previous guidance regarding testing for SARS-CoV-2 infection, stating that “Due to the significance of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission, this guidance further reinforces the need to test asymptomatic persons, including close contacts of a person with documented SARS-CoV-2 infection.”
The CDC previously announced that it was up to state and local public health officials and health providers to decide whether close contacts of individuals with documented SARS-CoV-2 infection should be tested.
