Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening in Marginalized Populations
- Describe barriers that certain populations face in getting cancer screening
- Determine what community resources can address the barriers patients face in getting appropriate screening
- Cite evidence for screening recommendations for various special populations
- Formulate a plan to address a patient’s concerns about screening recommendations.

Improving Care for Your Patients and Getting Credit for Your Work
- Identify resources that are available in their community that can help meet patient needs around cancer screening, treatment, and survivorship
- Connect patients with community resources that can improve cancer screening rates
- Design practice changes that can improve cancer screening rates
- Create a performance improvement project that can utilize the American Board of Family Medicine’s Self-Directed Performance Improvement pathway for certification points and continuing medical education credits.

About the ODH Breast and Cervical Cancer Project
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP) can assist qualified patients in Ohio in obtaining no-cost breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic testing. The BCCP’s Patient Navigation Program helps guide women through the healthcare system, find providers and community resources, and answer questions about scheduling appointments, using insurance, and more.
