Paid Sponsorship by the University of Dayton & Miami Valley Hospital
The University of Dayton (UD) and Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) will hold its 11th Annual Healthcare Symposium “Breaking Down Racism to Build Cultural Intelligence and Understand Health Disparities” virtually via Zoom on Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
This year’s Symposium will reflect on lessons extracted from the difficult year of 2020 and answer questions such as: What can we learn from both the #BLM movement and our response to the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of health equity? How do we develop skills and competencies to serve patients as antiracist providers?
The symposium will begin with a panel discussion featuring representatives of family medicine, public health, and MVH and titled “COVID Talks: Fostering Health Equity in our Local Crisis Response.”
The second session will be a workshop facilitated by Robin Shabazz, Esq., titled “Culturally Intelligent Solutions for Becoming an Antiracist.”
