Join us for the next Bite-Sized Learning Session on Sunday, July 26, at 8 p.m. live on the OAFP Facebook page.
Moderated by OAFP President-Elect Mike Sevilla, MD, this week’s session will feature Natasha Bhuyan, MD. Dr. Bhuyan is an Arizona native, and family physician and regional director at One Medical in Phoenix. She is dedicated to staying active in the community and volunteers her time with numerous organizations and local events, advocating for education in marginalized communities and providing access to health care for the homeless.
Dr. Bhuyan is very active on social media channels and has been using her voice through this media to raise awareness about COVID-19 and the wearing of masks in Arizona.
Most recently, she was interviewed by NBCLX on the issue of COVID-19 cases spiking among people aged 20 to 44. During the interview, she explains how social gatherings are leading to increases in cases. Additionally, Dr. Bhuyan was interviewed and quoted in an article by Fox10 Phoenix on what Arizona needs to do as a state to stop the spread.
Drs. Bhuyan and Sevilla will discuss how, now more than ever, family physicians have the unique and important role of educating, advocating, and advising the communities in which they serve on issues such as COVID-19. Using social media platforms and engaging in media interviews is just one way to leverage that role. Listen in and learn from Dr. Bhuyan how you can do it too!
This series of Bite-Sized Learning Sessions has been created to serve as an opportunity for members to come together during a time when connecting and learning from each other is crucial. Join family physician presenters as they share their story of transition, practice pivot, or a newfound joy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The OAFP will host these learning sessions on Sunday evenings (as we have speakers and topics), beginning at 8 p.m. Members can join the conversation by logging on to the OAFP Facebook page to watch live. We’ll open with a brief welcome and turn it over to the moderator and presenter to share. Live viewers can submit questions and comments through Facebook comments throughout the session. The sessions will be 60 minutes or less!
