The next session of the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians’ (OAFP) Bite-Sized Learning program is set for Sunday, August 8, at 8 p.m. This week’s session is titled, “From Burnout to Joy: A Personal Story from a Family Physician.” Members can join the conversation by logging on to the OAFP’s Facebook page or YouTube channel to watch live.
Moderated by OAFP President Mike Sevilla, MD, this session will feature Michael Holliday, MD, medical director of University Health Services and associate professor of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Holliday will share his own story of burnout, the actions he took to overcome it, and he will provide an overview of lessons learned throughout his journey. From explaining how to not confuse system issues with what’s in an individual’s control and creating a positive interaction between these two, to figuring out how to stop blaming, Dr. Holliday will cover it all.
This session will also jump-start the OAFP’s Wellness Week. Beginning Monday, August 9, OAFP members will receive a daily email filled with resources, tools, tips, and more on topics related to the day’s wellness theme. Keep an eye on your inbox for more information!
Dr. Holliday’s presentation and conversation with Dr. Sevilla will be recorded and available on the OAFP’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and the OAFP website for future viewing along with all of the past Bite-Sized Learning sessions.
If you have suggestions for future learning sessions or have a story to tell yourself, please contact Kaitlin McGuffie.
