The next session of the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians’ (OAFP) Bite-Sized Learning program is set for Sunday, November 14, at 8 p.m. This week’s session is titled, “A Chat with the OAFP President.” Members can join the conversation by logging on to the OAFP’s Facebook page or YouTube channel to watch live.
Moderated by Mike Sevilla, MD, FAAFP, this session will feature OAFP President Teresa Zryd, MD, MSPH, FAAFP.
Dr. Zryd began her healthcare career as an assistant health commissioner at a local health department after earning her Masters in Public Health from Western Kentucky University. In this role, she became aware of a community shortage of family physicians. She prioritized family physician advocacy and decided to pursue a career in family medicine herself. She earned her medical degree from the Wright State University (WSU) Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH, in 1995, and completed her residency at the Dayton Community Family Medicine Residency Program in 1998 where she served as chief resident.
Hoping to impart the notion of public health and community medicine on new generations of family physicians, Dr. Zryd returned to the WSU Family Medicine Residency Program and served five years as faculty, then went on to spend 14 years as its program director.
Dr. Zryd currently serves as system vice president of academic affairs/research for Premier Health, and continues to work as a preceptor for the WSU Family Medicine Residency Program. She is also the chief medical consultant for Dayton Public Schools and one of the team physicians for the University of Dayton.
Dr. Zryd will walk us through her unique journey to family medicine, covering a variety of topics, lessons learned along the way, and the joys of a career in family medicine. Don’t miss another dynamic Bite-Sized conversation!
Dr. Zryd’s presentation and conversation with Dr. Sevilla will be recorded and available on the OAFP’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and the OAFP website for future viewing along with all of the past Bite-Sized Learning sessions.
