On August 16, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians held its seventh session of the Wellness Wednesdays series that focused on the therapeutic benefits of counseling.
For those who were not able to join the session, the program was video recorded and has been added to the OAFP’s Wellness Wednesdays archive. Included in the archive are several valuable resources including resources including several articles on how preventative and crisis counseling can make a big impact on the lives of physicians.
The Academy’s Wellness Wednesdays program is a structured, monthly webinar series that focuses on enhancing professional and personal wellness. Creation of the series is the result of the OAFP’s Joy of Medicine Workgroup – a group of volunteer physicians tasked to champion the strategic objective of bringing back the joy to family medicine and to reignite our member’s passion for family medicine.
The series is facilitated by a licensed professional clinical counselor from the Ohio Physicians Health Program (OPHP) and is offered free to OAFP members. Each session of the series will take place the third Wednesday of each month over the typical lunch hour, 12:15-1 p.m.
If you have not registered already, there is still space available for the next Wellness Wednesdays session set for Wednesday, September 20, on the virtues of grittiness and resiliency. Other resources for improving physician wellness, strengthening resiliency, and beating burnout are available through the OAFP website.
