Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) at all U.S. allopathic medical schools and branch campuses are eligible for a $600 grant from the American Academy of Family Physicians and the AAFP Foundation to put toward their group’s operation in whatever way they see fit. The purpose of the program is to provide crucial funding to FMIGs to work on the front lines at their colleges and increase student career choice in family medicine.
The deadline to apply is Friday, December 8.
Requirements
Step 1. Complete the FMIG Funding Initiative application, which brings together information from the FMIG, its medical school, and its AAFP chapter.
Step 2. Get started on filling out the FMIG Activity Survey by downloading a PDF copy, then submit your responses online when you are ready. Note: The online survey tool does not allow you to save your progress. The PDF makes it possible to collect information in pieces, but remember to complete the online version after you have your final answers.
Step 3. While you are collecting the information for the Activity Survey, host at least one presentation on what family medicine is or innovations in family medicine (e.g., patient-centered medical home), or orchestrate and complete a project in community service or advocacy. The presentation/event must take place in the current academic year.
Step 4. Download evaluation forms and distribute to event participants during the event or activity. Collect the completed forms and send them in along with your application materials.
Step 5. Complete the program evaluation form.
Step 6. Submit your application. All application materials (except the FMIG Activity Survey) must be mailed in one envelope to:
