Explore the possibilities of a dynamic specialty and make connections that last a lifetime. Join your peers at FUTURE and step into your power as a future physician!
This year’s FUTURE conference will be held Thursday-Saturday, July 30-August 1, in Kansas City, MO.
Each year, the OAFP Foundation (Foundation) and American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFP Foundation) fund scholarships for medical students to attend FUTURE. This financial assistance helps offset the cost of registration, travel, lodging, and meals.
New in 2026 – Students, if selected, can receive BOTH an AAFP and an OAFP Foundation scholarship for a total of $1,200 to fund FUTURE travel expenses. Students can receive an AAFP scholarship (separate application) only once in their medical school career, there is no limit on OAFP Foundation scholarships.
Family Medicine Leads Scholarships to FUTURE are provided by the AAFP Foundation. Family Medicine Leads Scholarships provides 250 awards valued at $600 each, spread over three scholarship categories:
- Early Career Student (Rising MS/OMS 1–3)
- Student (Rising MS/OMS4) or Resident Primary Care Champion
- Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) Leaders
The application deadline is Friday, May 1; notification to applicants is Wednesday, June 3. For additional scholarship details and to apply, visit the FUTURE website.
