The Health Policy Institute of Ohio Addiction Evidence Project Advisory Group met on January 30 to continue development of the Ohio Addiction Policy Scorecard and Inventory. Executive Vice President Ann Spicer represents the Ohio academy of Family Physicians on the Advisory Group.
This purpose of the project is to analyze addiction policy changes enacted in Ohio within the past 4-6 years as to the extent in which those policies aligned with existing standards and evidence. The project also seeks to identify areas where Ohio policy could be better aligned with standards and evidence, including potential gaps in Ohio’s response to the opiate crisis. In addition, the project seeks to identify situations where two or more policies may be contradictory or at cross-purposes.
Ultimately, the goal of the project is to help make policy makers and other stakeholders better equipped to reduce substance use disorders in a coordinated, comprehensive, effective, and efficient way that leads to increased recover and overall health and wellbeing for Ohioans.
