2025 Friend of Family Medicine:
Caroline Stephenson
The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) is pleased to announce that Caroline Stephenson, medical education senior program consultant at the OhioHealth Grant Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program in Columbus, OH, has been selected to receive its 2025 Friend of Family Medicine Award.
Since 2022, Caroline has designed and implemented activities for resident onboarding and orientation, ensured the program is following Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, and managed events; as well as overseen the screening, interviewing, and evaluation processes for residency applications, and prepared and monitored the program budget.
Caroline is also involved with the OAFP as the Central Ohio Academy of Family Physicians regional chapter executive assistant, managing external events and documenting meeting minutes for the regional chapter members.
Award nominator, Roma Amin, MD, FAAFP, associate program director at the OhioHealth Grant Family Medicine Residency Program, explained, “She has been instrumental in developing our recruitment programming and improving relations with external stakeholders. Thanks to the relationships she’s built, residents feel more connected to medical education. She has even independently advocated for wellness initiatives for our team.”
Prior to her role at the OhioHealth Grant Family Medicine Residency Program, Caroline was a medical education administrative intern at the OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Dublin, OH, where she assisted with the onboarding and off-boarding of residents, communicated with attendings regarding curriculum, created expense reports, and scheduled electives and didactics.
“I’m so lucky to be a part of this field and work alongside such amazing family physicians,” said Caroline. “I’m grateful for all the support and guidance I’ve received so far, and I look forward to all that’s ahead.”
Caroline graduated from the Ohio University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Health from the College of Health Sciences and Professions. She majored in Health Services Administration and minored in Business Administration.
The OAFP is thankful for Caroline’s dedication to family medicine education and her desire to build a strong family medicine workforce in Ohio. We congratulate her on this honor and wish her success in her career.
