The OAFP Foundation (Foundation) hosted its second annual Family Medicine 5K Run/Walk on October 23-24, 2021. Participants completed the race on a route of their choice, from their own neighborhoods to Hawaii and received a race shirt, bib, finisher medal, and a virtual sponsor packet.
All race proceeds support Foundation programming for medical students and family medicine residents in Ohio.
The Foundation is the only 501(c) (3) tax-exempt charitable organization in Ohio that exists to promote family medicine as a career choice to medical students and family medicine residents – building a strong family medicine workforce for Ohio.
Family physicians provide comprehensive, continuing care to all members of the family, and high quality, cost effective care to patients of all ages and genders. A strong primary care based health system leads to better health and better care at a lower cost.
Foundation programs have benefited thousands of Ohio medical students and residents through educational grants, preceptorship stipends, and scholarships. Adapting to the change happening around our state and nation, the Foundation continues its work to build a strong family medicine workforce to carry the torch forward.
The Foundation is thankful to the following organizations for sponsoring the 2021 virtual event:
