Ohio Immunization Partners for Healthy Adults

Ohio Immunization Partners for Healthy Adults (OIPHA) was established in 1996 “to foster comprehensive, sustained state and community programs for the immunization of Ohio’s adults against vaccine-preventable disease.”

Immunization is especially important as summer winds down and fall begins, when the risk for flu and pneumonia are on the rise. This is the time for all of us—especially healthcare workers and those in high risk groups, such as the elderly—to take the proper precautions in safeguarding against these vaccine-preventable diseases.

OIPHA, in conjunction with Ohio KePro, has developed an informational packet on adult immunizations for the 2008-09 seasons. This packet is available for free through the Shopping Bag on Ohio KePRO’s Web site (www.ohiokepro.com). The packet provides up-to-date information regarding influenza and pneumococcal vaccines, with key documents and tools for staff, patients and residents, including those listed below:

For staff:

  • Influenza Vaccine Composition and Dosing Recommendations
  • Standing Orders for Administering Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccines to Adults
  • Recommendations for Influenza and Pneumococcal Immunizations
  • Vaccine Consent/Administration and Declination Forms
  • Screening Questionnaires
  • Immunization Coding Guides
  • Vaccination Pocket Guides
  • Medicare Payment Guidelines

For patients/residents:

  • Influenza Vaccine Information Sheets (Inactivated and Live)
  • Flu and Pneumonia Handout* Pneumonia Vaccine Brochure
  • Pneumococcal Polysaccharide (PPV) Vaccine Information Sheet
  • Shingles Vaccine Information Sheet
