Seeking Volunteers to Serve on OAFP Committees and Commissions

With a new strategic plan and a redesigned organizational structure in place, OAFP President Dr. Jeff Harwood will soon begin the process of appointing OAFP members to commission, committee, workgroup and forum positions.  Following is a list of the opportunities for service.  We encourage your interest and participation as this is certainly an important and pivotal time for family medicine and the work these groups undertake.  It should be noted that the service of medical student and resident members is welcomed in all groups; not just the medical student and resident forums.

After reviewing the opportunities below, please contact OAFP staff about opportunities that interest and suit you best.

Advocacy Commission – monitors state and federal legislative issues and coordinates OAFP legislative activity; plans the Legislative Conference and the Leadership and Advocacy Training Seminar.

Bylaws Committee – annually reviews the OAFP Bylaws to ensure they are consistent with the policies and practices of the OAFP, ensures that OAFP Bylaws are not in conflict with AAFP Bylaws, and recommends any needed revisions for the consideration of the Members Assembly.

Special Constituencies Forum – selects OAFP’s special constituency delegates to the National Conference on Special Constituencies.
