Dr. Ted Wymyslo Receives 2009 Torchlight Leadership Achievement Award

OAFP recently presented its sixth annual Torchlight Leadership Achievement Award to Dr. Ted E. Wymyslo, of Dayton, Ohio, on Aug. 8 during OAFP’s Annual Dinner at Columbus Marriott Northwest, Dublin, Ohio.

The award is presented annually to a member of OAFP who best has championed the mission and vision of OAFP.

“Dr. Wymyslo is committed to transforming community practice and medical education to a model of care that delivers the patient-centered medical home (PCMH). He recently testified on behalf of state legislation which would create a PCMH demonstration program in Dayton and Toledo,” OAFP Immediate Past President Dr. Keith Lehman said when presenting this award to Dr. Wymyslo.

“Dr. Wymyslo is a tireless worker and inspirational leader. He is generous - giving willingly of time, energy, effort and personal financial resources,” Dr. Lehman said.

Dr. Wymyslo is currently director of Family Medicine Dayton Inc., a community-based program designed to bring together all family medicine education resources in the Dayton area into a collaborative that will utilize the principles of the PCMH in medical student and resident education as well as on-site patient care delivery. Previously, he was medical director for Miami Valley Hospital Berry Family Health Center, Dayton, and program director for Miami Valley Hospital Family Practice Residency Program, Dayton.

Dr. Wymyslo and his wife, Janet, reside in Tipp City and have two grown daughters, Beverly (Danny) Breyman and Joanna.
