Now is the time to take notice of the changes in health care, specifically, value-based payment models. The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians has dedicated the spring 2017 issue of The Ohio Family Physician to help us better understand several new quality-based payment programs, how they impact the way we deliver care, and how we get paid for providing that care. Feature articles take a deep dive into the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative (CPC Classic); CPC+; the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA); and Ohio’s very own CPC program.
Also covered are more immediate issues—the development of rules for dispensing and recommending medical marijuana; the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy’s overreach into the practice of medicine; and the push for prescriptive authority by psychologists.
The OAFP recently launched a new, monthly webinar series that focuses on enhancing professional and personal wellness through the joy of medicine—be sure to check out the Wellness Wednesdays series topics. Also, be sure to read about the Academy’s quality improvement initiatives in President Ryan Kauffman, MD’s, message and the upcoming 2017 Members Assembly—mark on your calendar for Saturday-Sunday, August 12-13, to join the fun.
