OAFP has created a comprehensive, student-focused presentation to be offered to medical students at each of Ohio's seven medical schools. The presentation titled, "Your Future in Family Medicine" addresses and clarifies student identified barriers to choosing a career in family medicine – specifically lifestyle and economic issues. In order to make the presentations consistent, a PowerPoint presentation and complimenting talking points have been developed. It was suggested by the commission that the presentations should open with a personal reflection on why the presenter chose to be a family physician and to share their personal passion for the specialty. It is recommended that a resident attend the meeting and offer their unique insight into their journey on the family medicine career path.
