The Family Medicine Workshop will examine a broad spectrum of topics and concerns of clinical interest and relevance to primary care physicians. Each two-day, weekend course provides plenty of time for case discussion and interaction with the faculty. Whether you attend both weekends or just one, you’re sure to receive a comprehensive review of the essentials of family medicine.

New to this year’s schedule for Course 1 as an optional add-on session is an American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) Knowledge Self-Assessment (KSA) and Clinical Self-Assessment (CSA) on Hypertension. In addition, Course 2 will feature a joint injection workshop at no additional cost for all attendees.

New Programming in 2017 = More CME Credit

The ABFM Family Medicine Certification KSA and CSA on Hypertension is an addition to the schedule as an optional add-on session to Course 1. If you need to complete this component of your ongoing certification, then this program is for you! Participants will work with an expert moderator to complete the KSA and CSA in a group setting.

Physicians that participate in this session will receive 10 points from the ABFM for completing the KSA and 8 live Prescribed CME credits from the AAFP. Physicians will also receive and an additional 5 points from the ABFM for completing the optional corresponding CSA. Please note, participation in this session requires a cell phone or laptop that can access the internet for the KSA portion and a laptop for the CSA portion. The fee for this add-on session does not include the charge that the ABFM will assess you for your family medicine certification.

The joint injection workshop has during Course 2 is automatically included for all attendees at no additional fee. The session is sponsored by OrthopedicONE and will focus specifically on the shoulder and the knee. Through lecture and hands-on application, Jeff Backes, MD, and Rahul Biyani, MD, will discuss options for performing shoulder and knee injections, share relevant patient case studies, and offer insight on when to refer to a specialist when a joint injection is no longer an option.


The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians has negotiated a group room rate of $109 per room, per night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 600 Metro Place North in Dublin. The group cut-off date for course 1 is Thrusday, December 15, and is Thursday, December 29, for course 2. The hotel offers an indoor pool area and cardio room. CME Accreditation

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association. Based upon credit granted in previous years, we anticipate approval of 30 live Prescribed credits for the two-course program.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees will be refunded, minus $25 for administrative costs, if notice of cancellation is received in writing by Monday, January 9, 2017, for course 1 or by Monday, January 23, 2017, for course 2. No refunds will be made after these dates.
