The certification structure consists of four components, each designed to assess important physician characteristics that stress the importance of ongoing participation in activities that evaluate each of the following components between recertification examinations:
- Self-Assessment and Lifelong Learning
- Cognitive Expertise
- Performance Improvement.
The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians offers the following programming towards your ABFM certification process:
Knowledge Self-Assessments (KSA) (formerly known as SAMs)
- Live KSA (held in conjunction with the Family Medicine Workshop each January and the Members Assembly each August with the option to also complete the Clinical Self-Assessment)
- Virtual KSA (2017 date and topic TBD)
