Annual Fundraising Activities

Each summer, in conjunction with the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Members Assembly, the OAFP Foundation hosts a variety of fundraising activities to support its mission.

The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the many OAFP members, Foundation trustees, family, friends, staff, and volunteers whose generosity, participation, and support helped achieve donations totaling over $8,000 during the 2016 August fundraising activities!

The following activities are the Foundation’s major annual fundraisers that benefit its programs:

Silent Auction

Silent_Auction_WFMUThe silent auction is one of the Foundation’s major fundraising events with proceeds benefiting its programs.

The success of the silent auction is dependent on the generous donation of items from OAFP members, their office staff and patients, small businesses, pharmaceutical companies, local businesses, and OAFP regional chapters.

Historically, the Foundation sees the highest bidding generated from OSU memorabilia, sporting event tickets, vacation/weekend get-a-ways, golf packages, theme baskets, jewelry, artwork, antiques, crystal/glassware, and Ohio or family medicine themed items. Unique and hard to find items are also popular. All donations to the auction are considered tax-deductible, charitable contributions.

OAFP Past Presidents’ Quilt

2016_PPQA tradition of fundraising for the Foundation programs through an annual quilt raffle was begun by Diane Todd and the OAFP auxiliary members in 1990. In 2000, a new twist on this tradition was introduced when OAFP Past Presidents Mark Belfer, DO; Ross Black, II, MD; and Mary Jo Welker, MD; sponsored the purchase of the quilt so that all raffle proceeds would benefit the Foundation’s programs.

This tradition has grown each and each year more past presidents join in sponsoring the quilt raffle.

Wine Cork Pull

Best Seat in the House

20160813_074545New for 2016, the Foundation hosted an auction to win a VIP experience in the “Best Seat in the House.”

Mark Belfer, DO, was the highest bidder and won a special reserved seat in a reclining chair during the morning continuing medical education (CME) session with snacks and beverage service.
