Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (OAFP/F) endeavors to promote healthy life decisions among Ohio’s school-age children by implementing the American Academy of Family Physician’s (AAFP) Tar Wars® program in Ohio.
This tobacco-free education program for 4th and 5th graders teaches kids about the short-term, image-based consequences of tobacco use, the cost associated with using tobacco products and the advertising techniques used by the tobacco industry to market their products to youth.
OAFP/F sponsors an annual statewide poster contest for the AAFP Tar Wars® program. Ohio’s poster contest winner receives a scholarship up to $1,000 from OAFP/F to attend the AAFP Tar Wars® national poster contest in Washington, D.C.
