Each August, members of OAFP come together to determine the policies and priorities of OAFP for the following year. In addition to the business and committee meetings held throughout the weekend, the conference offers continuing medical education (CME) on topics of current importance to the approximately 100 members in attendance. As part of assembly activities, special recognition is given to the OAFP Family Physician of the Year, Family Medicine Educator of the Year and OAFP Foundation Philanthropist of the Year. Also, those members reaching their 50-years-in-medicine milestones are honored for their service.

The 2009 Members Assembly will be held at Columbus Marriott Northwest located at 5605 Blazer Parkway, Dublin, Ohio 43017. OAFP has negotiated a group room block rate of $119 plus tax (single or double) per night. Please call the hotel directly at 888.801.7133 or 614.791.1000 to make your reservation. Be sure to tell the booking agent that you are with OAFP to receive the group rate. The group cut-off date for hotel reservations is Thursday, July 16.

Honored Guest: AAFP President Ted Epperly, M.D., F.A.A.F.P.
American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) President Ted Epperly, M.D., will be joining us to discuss the plans for healthcare reform in our nation, the future for family physicians and the patient-centered medical home (PCMH).

Featured Program: PCMH Panel Discussion
Solid evidence supports the promise of PCMH: better health outcomes, lower total costs and higher patient satisfaction. The pay-off includes everything from greater job satisfaction in the short run to higher compensation in the long run. Ted Epperly, M.D., and OAFP members from across the state will join us to share their experiences in transitioning to a PCMH.
